Frequently Asked Questions

 How do I make a reservation?

To make a reservation, You will need to make phone contact with Jeff or Oly so they can answer any questions you may have and get any information needed from you.

How far in advance should I make a reservation?

Because of the limited availability of accommodations in West Yellowstone that can handle larger groups, we recommend that you book your dates at least one year in advance to ensure the dates you would like.  Even then, we have reservations being made up to two years from some groups arrival dates.

What happens if I have to cancel?

We currently have a 30 day advanced notice cancellation policy.  If a group cancels before 30 days of arrival a 90% of the deposit will be refunded and 10% will be held as a handling fee.  If the reservation is cancelled within 30 days of arrival the full deposit is non refundable, however we will happily apply the deposit to any future reservation with Cabin West Lodging.

Is there a deposit?

Yes, We require a first nights deposit by either personal check or money order to hold all reservations.

Can I bring my pets?

No, due to cleaning issues and pet allergies of other guests, we have a strict no pets policy.

Maximum Occupancy

Each house has a maximum occupancy limit we have established due to our stock of kitchen items, towels, bedding and other stocked items.  These occupancy limits are also established with our fire code inspection and have been accepted to not exceed the maximums.  Yes, children are people too and are counted as such in our maximum occupancy limits. Maximum occupancies are strictly set and not to be exceeded.

What do we need to do before checking out?

We do not require a cleaning fee for our cabins and we have left it up to our guests to treat our homes as their own.  We do have a suggested cleaning and check list at each cabin to help ensure there are no issues when checking out.

What time is Check In/Check out?

Check in is at 5 p.m. for all of our houses.  Under special circumstances, we can get a group in earlier than 5 p.m., however we will need to authorize any early check in requests.
Check out is always 10 a.m.  Again, under special circumstances we can authorize a late check out, but these requests need to be made in advance and not the morning of check out.

Do you accept Credit Cards?

We now have square and accept all major credit cards, including AMEX, along with Apple Pay and Android Pay.

Do you have a fireplace in the cabins?

We have gas fireplaces in our Absaroka Cabin and our Teton Townhouse, not in our Gallatin Cabin.

Is there AC in the cabins?

Yes, we have central air in our Absaroka and Gallatin Cabins with window A/C units in our Teton Townhouse.

Is there a grill at the cabins?

Yes, There are propane grills on the decks of each house along with grill tools in the kitchen.

What is the minimum night stay?

We have a 4 night minimum in our Summer months and a 3 night minimum stay for our Off-Season Months.
Our summer months are from May 1 to October 31.

What is the maximum night stay?

We do not have a maximum number of nights a reservation can be made for.  We do offer discounts starting at 7+ nights.

Is there a washer and dryer in the cabin?

Yes, All of our Rentals have Washer and Dryers in the units.  We do provide laundry soap, bleach and dryer sheets for personal use.

Where do we check in?

We do not have a dedicated office to check in at upon arrival.  When making a reservation, we explain our check in procedure in the confirmation letter.

What is the internet password?

Once checked into the rental, we have an invoice with the remaining balance, keys for the house and an information sheet with internet password listed on it.

Do you provide towels and linens for beds?

Yes, we provide all towels, wash clothes, hand towels, kitchen towels and linens for beds in all of our rentals.

Do you supply soap and shampoo?

No, we have seen ample waste in the past when supplying shampoo, conditioner and body soap, so to minimize this waste guests need to supply these items of their own choice.

Is the kitchen stocked with cooking items?

Yes, 0ur kitchens are very well stocked with most anything we and past guest have thought of for use in the kitchen.  From crock pots to pancake griddles, we rarely have a request for kitchen items not already provided.

Do you have a pool or hot tub at the cabins?

No, we do have a few summer swimming options in and outside of Yellowstone Park that we can recommend.  These spots are natural swimming areas and are weather dependent.

Can we have a fire for cooking hot dogs and smores?

Yes, we have a fire pit on the property with an attached picnic area.  The fire pit is wood burning and we do not supply wood, but wood can be purchased at either grocery store in town.  There are specific rules when using the fire pit on property that are listed in the information sheet at check in.  Some of these rules include no burning when a fire restriction is in place and never burn when it is windy outside.

Can we put up a tent or park an RV on the property?

No, we have limited common area and parking and reserve this space for parking of guests vehicles only.  Guests staying in an RV but using the utilities in our houses are considered as part of the maximum occupancy for that house.

Is there a grocery store in town?

Yes, there are two full service grocery stores in West Yellowstone.  Both grocery stores are within three blocks of the property.

Does Yellowstone Park ever close?

Yellowstone does have open and closing dates that typically fall around mid April to first part of November for the Summer Season and Mid December to Mid March for the Winter season.  When the Park is open in the Summer, the gates are always open to traffic, however there may not be a Ranger at the gate in early or late hours.  In the Winter season, the west gate of Yellowstone Park has very limited entry for motorized access.  All information for the opening/closing dates and access are listed at the NPS website.

What is the weather like that time of the year?

A question we get a lot and wish we could accurately answer.  Cabins West Lodging is located at 6600 feet in mountain elevation, the weather is very unpredictable and can change from very comfortable warm temperatures one minute to snowing in July.  Our typical Summer temperatures are 70 – 80 degrees for the highs to 40 – 50 degrees for the lows.  Our Off-Season/Winter months can vary from -40 – +40 degrees.  We always recommend packing a variety of clothing to meet any weather changes that may occur.

What is there for kids to do when not in Yellowstone?

There is numerous activities that are available to kids and families when not touring Yellowstone.  Our city park is 2 blocks away, Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center has a great “Keeper Kids” daily program, there are two movie theaters in town including the IMAX theater, weekend rodeos, zip line adventures and much more.  For a list of kids activities and  programs in West Yellowstone during the Summer and Winter seasons please visit our Chamber website.

Is there a noise ordinance in West Yellowstone?

Yes, West Yellowstone’s noise ordinance is 10 p.m.  If using the outside picnic areas or fire pit on the property, please be respectful of other guests and neighbors.

Do you ever see animals in West Yellowstone?

Yes, though an animal sighting is rare in town, we do have wild animals that make appearances in town.  Do not approach wild animals whether it is in West Yellowstone or in Yellowstone Park.  Food and trash cannot be left outside unattended as bears, wolves, coyotes, fox and especially ravens will find unattended items and you may be fined for “feeding wild animals”.

How far is the Cabins from Yellowstone Park?

Our property is 6 blocks from the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park.
